If You're Not Into Poetry... by Joules Z. May 25, 2009 So you're not into poetry, I hear you tell me. That's fine, I won't take it personally. I'm not barking up your tree. If it's not your cup of tea, you don't have to agree. Go be free and flee from this time without glee. Just forgive and move on from he and from she. He said this, she said that, who cares what people say. If you don't like what you hear, you don't have to stay. Maybe next time I'll sing, but just not today, since I feel the sting of your words, & aversion to word play. Your time is yours, my time is mine Let's not waste both. Open other doors, look for what you seek to find and steer clear from what you loathe. You don't have to appreciate it at all. I can't make you like it, but my only beckon call, is that you don't take it for granted. Words just aren't your thing, I hear you say again. So these new words I bring without delay, with my pen. Your words belong in this poem, since your words sound poetic. Yet you will never hear what I wrote and I will forget it. So, I won't make you listen, and love it, or care. If it won't make your eyes glisten, nor take away your blank stare. That's too much to ask for, it wouldn't be fair. For you don't have to take what I want to share.
